Staying on top of your texas bon license renewal is essential for maintaining an active, unencumbered status to practice nursing in the Lone Star State. Handled entirely online through the Texas Nurse Portal, renewals occur every two years and expire on the last day of your birth month. To complete a successful texas bon license renewal, Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) must complete 20 contact hours of continuing nursing education (CNE) in their specific area of practice. This requirement must also include mandatory training such as an HHSC-approved human trafficking prevention course and a Texas nursing jurisprudence and ethics course every third renewal cycle.
