Ouro Preto, meaning “black gold” in Portuguese, is a former colonial mining town located in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains in Brazil. It was founded in 1698 and quickly became the epicenter of a new gold rush, as the central place where gold was brought to be measured and sold. It’s a real pleasure to walk around and sketch everything there!
