It does require some basic sewing skills.&nbsp; Though I did this with a sewing machine, it could be done by hand.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFirst, measure a one inch wide elastic.&nbsp; I pulled it just a bit tight, overlapped 1\/4 inch and cut with pinking shears.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/measure elastic.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThen I sewed the two ends, using a zig-zag stitch.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/sew elastic.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tPlaced it over the book with the sewn edge on the inside.&nbsp; Now that I think of it, I could have placed the pocket over this sewn edge to have completely hidden it.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/elastic back.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tI made a pattern for the fabric pen pocket.&nbsp; I measured 1 3\/4 inches wide and then just a bit below the end of my pen.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/pattern1.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/pattern2.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tCut out the pattern on my fabric, which was right sides together (double layer)<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/fabric.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 502px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tSewed it together, turned it right side out, hemmed the upper opening by turning under and zigzag stitched on the machine.&nbsp; Then I positioned it on the elastic and pinned it where I wanted to sew it to the elastic.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/pinned.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 636px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tSewed the inside top edge and through the bottom edge with another zigzag stitch.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/sew.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnd it is done:<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img alt=\"\" src=\"\/userfiles\/penholder.jpg\" style=\"width: 640px;height: 640px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pen holder of fabric &amp;
