I made this drawing sitting on a low wall in Piazza della Libertà in Florence.
It represents the Triumphal Arch built in 1739 for the arrival of the Grand Duke Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor.
Today it appears as an obscure wreck coming from another world, and somehow contributes to the melancholic sense of neglect that inevitably invades all the square.
Made on Moleskine Folio Watercolour Album, January 2010.
