Fisterra – The End of the World, The End of the Camino de Santiago
Fisterra (Finisterre), Spain was considered the literal ‘End of the World’ in ancient Spain. The 0,0km marker marks the final destination on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, which has been traveled by Catholic ‘peregrinos’ from all over Europe since as far back as the 9th Century CE. In modern times, The Way is traveled by people from all over the world, and from every walk of life (pun intended). I walked from Sarria to Santiago from July 18 to July 24, and received my Compostela (certificate of completion of at least 100km) the next day – my 38th birthday, and the Feast Day of St. James. ¡Buen Camino!
